The end of the Second World War brought the world a new form of war resulting from the division of the globe into two antagonistic blocs of countries. The period of "cold war" is a time of constant rivalry between the two superpowers; a rivalry that takes place on many fronts –  political, economic, military, scientific, philosophical, ideological, and cultural. The clash of these two elementary paradigms of how man and political power should be understood generates a deepening of reflection on such issues as individual freedom, human rights, and the legitimization of political power. The latest volume of Horyzonty Polityki will be devoted to the political reflection of the Cold War period.
